Meet Rebecca Dainty one of our amazing CGUK members who has just completed her loyalty card after six unforgettable events. From tuition days to big game and sim days, she’s thrown herself into every experience and made countless memories along the way. To celebrate, Rebecca has earned £150 store credit for her next CGUK adventure – and now she’s here to share the story of her six-event journey and everything she got up to.
Edgehill Tuition Day –
My first CGUK event back in April this year, the first time I met some amazing friends and picked up some brilliant Tuition tips. Then we had a mini competition in the afternoon, which i was 2nd, but not bad considering I had only started shooting in Feb, and now I had truly caught the shooting bug.
The Perfect Clay Sim Day –
When I saw this was 10 minutes from my house in Rutland I knew I had to do it. Even though I had a mix of nerves and excitement it was a really great introduction to how a game day works. The weather was great, I knew the countryside well, I didn’t get many clays, which showed my lack of experience, but it was still such a fun day with all the girls supporting each other. And the homemade Sloe Gin was quite potent.
Coniston Tuition and Spa Day –
The 2nd of my tuition events this day really showed me how far my shooting has advanced. Being placed in the experienced group really boosted my confidence and I did some great shooting that day. I won a lovely game journal with the mini competition, and the whooping and shouting from us all certainly let everyone know the CGUK girls were in residence. Amazing spa afterwards too, the views from the hot tub were gorgeous.
Le Strange Simulation Day –
Oh my days, this event was the start of a series of awesome days. This was the best shooting I have ever done. There was clay dust everywhere, all the girls were shooting brilliantly, encouraging each other on, and maybe getting a little bit competitive. Lovely hosting from the estate and a really tasty meal outside in a gorgeous setting was amazing. Some of us stayed over in a lovely cottage and rounding the day off with a firepit, marshmallows and chocolate was bliss.
Prestwold Hall Game Day –
My first ever game day. I had been planning my outfit for months I was so excited for this!! First shot and I bagged my first pheasant. The day was incredible, from the food to the drive locations. Everyone was having an amazing time. Encouraging each other all the way. I did manage to shoot a black and a white pheasant, whoops, but taking some lovely pheasant and partridge home was so lovely, it’s why I started shooting, so I could have lovely game to eat, knowing where it came from. Staying over for a couple of nights with the girls cemented some great friendships.
SAC Sporting Weekend –
When I signed up to this event in July I was so excited. I must have packed everything but the kitchen sink, so many clothes. But an absolutely breathtaking weekend, from arriving at the log cabin and it snowing, it was magical. The early starts to set up the decoys and hides were epic, just sitting and listening to the geese arriving was amazing. Learning Butchery and getting tips from Scotty was really educational. I finally had my firsts on the last night at the duck pond, 2 Geese and a Duck. The girls were amazing to be with, and made it an Epic weekend, I can’t wait to do it again next year!
