Kirkoswald Castle Estate is a family owned shoot, situated between Penrith and Carlisle in easy reach of the M6 and A66.
It is a well run, friendly shoot with the emphasis on giving the guns a good day’s shooting in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, brought together by a cheery team of staff.
The shoot is over 500 acres of woods and approx. 2,500 acres of undulating farmland, set in the beautiful and undisturbed Eden Valley with distant views of the Lake District fells.
Arrive at the Shoot Lodge at High Fog Close at 9am with tea and coffee and bacon baps. The day’s shooting starts around 9.30am and a meal with drinks is provided at lunch time or at the end of the shooting day in our Shoot Lodge complete with roaring fire at High Fog Close.
Our drives are varied and provide testing birds for the experienced shot, but there is plenty of scope for more novice members.
Usually 4 drives are covered during the day -over a wide range of topography, from wooded valleys to open fields between mature woods and game crops and our renowned ‘Dead Man’s Slack’ – 2 drives in a U shaped valley between towering oak woods.
Accommodation is available in local inns and hotels around Penrith.
At the end of the day, guests may take a brace of pheasants away with them.
