The Thistleton shoot is located in Rutland, the smallest county in the UK and is only 2 miles from the A1 (between Grantham and Stamford) The local towns Oakham, Stamford and Melton Mowbray are only a few miles away with excellent access for all major roads. The shoot is part of a 2,500-acre family-run farm with a long-standing shooting tradition. The drives on offer will give testing shooting throughout the day. Quarry on the day will vary between partridge, pheasant and ducks at the end of the day. The Thistleton is not an average shoot, you can expect snappy and fast-flowing birds that will provide you with a great day’s sport.
As always our Christmas shoot is highly anticipated and Christmas attire is absolutely necessary. There will be prizes throughout the day for best dressed, highest bird, cock of the day and more.
Meet at 8:30 at the pub for bacon rolls and coffee the shooting trailer will collect guns from there or guns can follow around in their own vehicle. There will be two drives in the morning followed by a stop for elevenses in the field then we will continue the day with another two or three drives finishing back at the pub for a two-course meal which can be picked from the menus in the morning.
No plastic wad on any of our CGUK shoots, please.
If you do not have access to cartridges that isn’t a problem at all.
Cartridges can be provided for you by our team, please make sure you let us know beforehand as this will be an additional cost.
Is available but please let us know on booking if this is required as it may be an additional charge.
A Gun bus is provided for all guns on the day.
This day includes full hospitality. Bacon sandwiches
Smart/ casual, we like to promote the traditional shooting attire on our days however tweed is not essential. Depending on the weather this can be decided in the group chat before the event.
