This December, join us for a truly unforgettable day at The Country Girls Christmas Shoot, hosted at the breathtaking Yattendon Estate, a jewel of the British countryside and home to one of the nation’s most acclaimed shoots.
A World-Class Setting
Nestled in the heart of West Berkshire, covering over 9,500-acre Yattendon Estate offers a dramatic and picturesque landscape of the North Wessex Downs area of outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Yattendon Estate in its present form is the amalgamation of several smaller estates acquired by the first Lord Iliffe between 1925 and 1940.
Yattendon has a long history of agriculture as you can see from the photographs on the next page.
The Estate was also a pioneer in the UK Christmas Tree industry in the 1970’s and this continues today, which makes it perfect for our very popular yearly Christmas Shoot.
Legendary Shooting at Yattendon
We have five beats with 34 drives across 10,000 acres and we shoot 52 days per season.
We hugely benefit from the topography, which produces some of the best top-class partridge in southern England
zipping high off the steep banks to test the guns. To the south of the partridge beat, we are equally blessed with near perfect ground to produce best quality pheasant climbing high and fast out from the woods over the valleys across the central part of the Estate. Our drives produce birds of all heights and levels of difficulty, so all guns can enjoy their sport, irrespective of their ability. Needless-to-say, there are birds that beat even the very best of guns!

From the moment you’re welcomed at the cosy Shooting Lodge, with its roaring fire and rustic charm, every detail of the day is designed to impress. You’ll enjoy a delicious lunch, expert hospitality, and the camaraderie of fellow shooting enthusiasts. The friendly team at Downton ensures a warm, inclusive experience where everyone is part of the action.
Festive Cheer & Christmas Tradition
As our signature Christmas Shoot, this day is all about fun, celebration, and community. Festive jumpers and Santa hats are not just welcome, they’re encouraged! At the end of the day, each guest will receive a thoughtfully curated Christmas goodie bag to take home because no Country Girls Shoot would be complete without a little seasonal magic.
Location & Travel
Perfectly placed just 55 minutes’ drive west from central London, conveniently placed in the middle of the South West and South East and just a short drive from the Midlands, even if you are further a field the travel will be worth this truly exquisite day!

None shotgun license holders welcome on shared pegs
Gun hire
Is available but please let us know on booking if this is required as it may be an additional charge.
Cartridges
We kindly ask that no plastic wads are used on any of our CGUK shoots. If you don’t have access to suitable cartridges, don’t worry, our team can provide them for you.
All empty cartridges will be collected on the day and either recycled or repurposed for artistic use.
Instructor
If you’d like a qualified shooting instructor on the peg with you, we can arrange this at an additional cost. Just let us know at the time of booking so we can get everything organised in advance.
Transport
There is a gun bus for this shoot!
Dress Code
We love to see traditional shooting attire on our game days, but don’t worry — tweed isn’t a must. Final outfit plans can be discussed in the group chat closer to the day, depending on the weather.
Accommodation
Group accommodation can be arranged and will be discussed in the group ahead of the event.
