Situated on the superb 1400 acre Coniston Estate near Skipton in the heart of the stunning North Yorkshire Dales. Coniston Shooting Ground is run by James Ardron and a close knit team of experienced staff and highly qualified shooting instructors.
The ground is CPSA Premier Plus ranked making it one of the best grounds in the UK. The outstanding log cabin clubhouse has a stunning log fire, deep sofas and large dining area offers visitors somewhere warm and comfortable to eat, drink and relax whether you are shooting or a guest. With a superb café offering home-cooked food and a shop dedicated to guns and accessories, what more could you want.
The shooting ground is set in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales amidst fantastic scenery. they are proud to have CPSA Premier Plus status which makes them one of the best grounds in the UK. They have over 100 Traps located on various stands offering a variety of disciplines such as Sporting, English Skeet, Olympic Skeet, DTL, UT, ABT, Grouse Butts, High Tower and Sport Trap.

I am Yorkshire born and bred and found myself getting into the shooting world in 2017 just literally having a go at something new and different.
Well I loved it! Then there was not a lot of ladies shooting but I made some great friends from attending ladies events and still travel all over the country shooting.
I’ll always remember one of my first lessons, I had an awful instructor that would shout and swear at me. I could have easily given up then, but I didn’t. I changed instructors and continued to grow with the sport.
In 2020 I passed my Loader course and in 2022 I passed my Safety Officer course and then Autumn 2022 Shooting Coach course covering Clay and Game.
I’ll always remember one of my first lessons, I had an awful instructor that would shout and swear at me. I could have easily given up then, but I didn’t. I changed instructors and continued to grow with the sport. This is why I have pushed on to become a coach, if I can do my bit to introduce more people to the sport and insure this doesn’t happen to anyone else, then I have done my job correctly!
In 2023 I received a ’Special Presentation’ award from BASC acknowledging my hardwork and bringing diversity into the shooting world, showing this is a sport for everyone! – I pride myself in that this is for everyone, no matter gender, colour or disability shooting will work everyone.
Now it’s 2024 and I continue to support people within the sport, help improve their shooting, build confidence and introduce more people into the sport.
I am fortunate to work for myself and have access to use a several shooting grounds for my lessons which covers areas of Yorkshire and into Lancashire.
Gun hire is included throughout this day at no extra cost
If ladies wish to bring their own guns they can do so.
All areas can be walked around the shoot so socially distanced rules can be followed.
Smart/ casual but most importantly practical and comfortable, depending on the weather this can be decided in the group chat before the event.
