About
Something that The Country Girls UK haven’t done before! This will be an amazing event with two very amazing ladies our very own residence coach Nicki Wakeford and Anita North.
Doveridge is our most popular ground and always sells out, so be quick with this one, well worth booking a day off work for.
Nicki started shooting in her thirties and it quickly became her passion. Despite not having CGUK, she persevered with her new hobby alone! She shot sporting and games but later got hooked on Olympic Skeet and shot for Team GB between 2009 and 2016.
She slid into coaching eight years ago, helping clients with their clay shooting and in the field. Naturally, Nicki’s specialism is Olympic Skeet; she works with British Shooting running a number of Development Academies for them. She strongly believes shooting is a great sport for ladies. Having met at a Royal Agricultural University reunion, Nicki and Tania discovered a shared passion for shooting and the countryside, so when Tania set up CGUK, Nicki suggested she might like a lady coach on board and Nicki took up the role of CGUK resident coach.
Anita North is a GB and England shooter turned shooting coach who discovered a love of shooting sports after trying clay shooting on the have-a-go stand at The Midland Game Fair in 1988. Anita’s interest grew quickly and in 1991 she began her competitive career, representing England at a home International for DTL. Anita then moved on to shooting for GB in Double Trap (DT) and then Olympic Trap (OT). Anita was the first GB clay shooter to medal at a World Cup Final (the annual culmination of the international World Cup matches). At home, Anita was the first woman to compete for England as a senior in the OT Home International.
Following a shooting career that saw Anita travel all over the world and collects medals at home and abroad, including 4 Commonwealth Games medals and European Team Gold Silver and Bronze, Anita retired from competitive international shooting in 2017 to focus on coaching and promoting links across the wider shooting community. Anita holds an ISSF B Licence and has been a British Shooting Talent Pathway Coach for the past 6 years. In 2021 Anita took up the role of England Team Manager for the OT Home International
Anita has been actively working to encourage women in shooting sports with a particular emphasis on the Olympic disciplines. She has also contributed regular articles to shooting magazines, been interviewed on national radio and TV and featured in magazines including Pull! Magazine, Clay Shooter Magazine and The Field.
