A gundog training day with Joe Hipwell on Lanton Hill Farm in the Scottish Borders. Joe grew up training gundogs with his legendary Grandpa Edward Martin, who trained the first Sealpin FTCh back in 1978. Joe has won trials with four different dogs, been selected for the Scottish Gundog Team five times and been the main gundog demonstrator at The Scottish Game Fair and Royal Highland Show on many occasions. He has great experience in hosting training days, particularly for new and novice handlers.
This day is ideal for beginner and novice handlers as there will be a variety of exercises to push both handlers and dogs, and what better way to learn than with the guidance of some of the best in the business.
Itinerary
9.30am – The day will start at Lanton Hill Farm, TD8 6SY to meet and have a cup of tea.
10:00am – 12:00pm- A variety of group training exercises.
12:00pm – 13:00pm – Lunch in the Sealpin Lodge.
13:00pm – 14:00pm Small low key competition – We put into practice the morning’s lessons with a fun competition
14:00pm prize giving and depart the Sealpin Lodge
Tea/Coffee and biscuits on arrival.
Nice sandwiches, sausages rolls and salads for lunch. We’ll provide non alcoholic soft drinks and there’s usually a glass of wine in the fridge too.
Tea/Coffee before leaving.
Transport: There’s a parking area and plenty of overflow if needed. We won’t need to use any vehicles during the day.
