A gundog training day with Joe Hipwell on Lanton Hill Farm in the Scottish Borders. Joe grew up training gundogs with his legendary Grandpa Edward Martin, who trained the first Sealpin FTCh back in 1978. Joe has won trials with four different dogs, been selected for the Scottish Gundog Team five times and been the main gundog demonstrator at The Scottish Game Fair and Royal Highland Show on many occasions. He has great experience in hosting training days, particularly for new and novice handlers.
9.45am – The day will start at Lanton Hill Farm to meet and have a cup of tea.
10am – 1pm – A variety of group training exercises.
1pm – 2pm – Lunch in the Sealpin Lodge including sandwiches, sausage rolls and salads. We’ll provide non-alcoholic soft drinks and there’s usually a glass of wine in the fridge too.
2pm – 4pm – We put into practice the morning’s lessons with a fun exercise involving shooting a few clays over your dog and then completing some retrieves to mimic a stand on a driven shoot day.
4pm – Tea and cake with a few awards for the Best Retrieve, Most Improved and others.
Accommodation is available on-site if ladies wish to make a weekend of it.
